Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson is the daughter of British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby (born in Paris) and Chris Watson (born in Paris). As a young girl, she moved to Oxfordshire where she studied at The Dragon School. Emma was aspired to become a professional actor since she was six. She attended Stagecoach Theatre Arts in Oxford, an acting school with part-time courses. When she was ten, she was performing and taking part in many Stagecoach shows and school productions. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the film version of J.K. Rowling's bestselling British novel began casting in 1999. Emma was discovered by agent via their Oxford teacher. David Heyman, the producer of Harry Potter Harry Potter's Sorcerer's Stone and Ron Weasley told Emma after 8 auditions, that she had been chosen for these parts. The cast included Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint and Rupert Grint. Emma's first appearance on the big screen was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, released in 2001. The highest-grossing movie of 2001 The film broke records in its first day revenue as well as opening weekend takings. Critics praised the film and the performance of three leading young actors. The Daily Telegraph in Britain, which is widely distributed and widely read, praised her performance as admirable. Emma's performance received nominations and won five awards later for the movie.
